Prunellidae - accentors

Alpine AccentorThere are 13 species of birds in this family. Most species are found in mountainous regions of Europe, Africa, and Asia. They are small birds, 5-7 inches in length, and have thin, pointed bills; short, rounded wings; and squared, medium-sized tails. Most species are brown to gray in color and look like sparrows. They move with a hopping or shuffling sideways gait and are sometimes called shufflewings!
